Menstrual Hygiene Literacy Workshop and Pad Donation camp was organised at IBM slum area, Rangpo, Pakyong District, Sikkim on 24th December 2022 by Pinkishe Foundation with facilitator-Mrs Jhuma Sunuwar & 8-First year B.Tech students.
Salima (name changed), a beneficiary, shared her anxiety about periods. At the time of the session, she still had to experience them.
Ms. Jhuma educated them about puberty, the process of menstruation, need for and ways to maintain safe menstrual health and hygiene, and eco-friendly menstrual waste disposal practices.Volunteer students also distributed pads among beneficiaries.
Incidentally, 3 days later Salima had her first period but she was well-equipped to #bleedwithdignity.
While we rally for the right to education, perhaps, it is time to also look at what education to impart.
