On 28th May 2022, a menstrual literacy workshop and pad distribution drive was carried out by the Sonipat branch of Pinkishe for the housemaids of the basti near Sonu Mittal club by Charu Wadhwa. The situation was very horrifying when we discovered that women still use dirty clothes and inappropriately dispose of them. They didn’t know about the usage of sanitary pads. Many of them complained about the irregular periods and white discharge. They weren’t aware of the possible reasons for these problems.

The severity of the situation was understood when these women weren't aware of the number of openings in their bodies. This is a result of the stigma about menstruation in India. There was a need to educate these women about menstruation and menstrual hygiene. They were educated about menstruation, menstrual health, maintenance of hygiene, myths about menstruation, facts about menstruation, and the female reproductive system using a chart. At the end of this session, free sanitary pads were distributed to all the participants.
