One of the lowest sex ratios in India is in Punjab. It is, therefore, both natural and unfortunate that people here would be ignorant and perhaps presumptuously intolerant about menstrual literacy. Menstruations are still a taboo in so many societies.
The modest school in Zirkarpur is for girls. Yet the students only learned about the process of menstruation, puberty, the need for and ways to maintain safe menstrual hygiene, and proper menstrual waste disposal only last month.
Pinkishe Foundation urges you to join hands with us. Period illiteracy is a serious period pain in itself. If young girls are not taught about their own anatomy, how can they be expected to be confident in their skin and lead their lives with dignity? After all, all menstruating individuals have the right to #bleedwithdignity, don’t they?
